I am very excited to announce our speaker for our quarterly conference call coming up on August 8th.

This call is open to anyone that includes any one you would like to invite also.

We all need to be prepared and well informed in these times we live in.

Desiree (Desi) Matel-Anderson will be sharing her expertise with us this quarter. Desi has worked disaster in the US and abroad. She attended the National preparedness leadership institute at Harvard.

Desi formed this team: The field Innovation Team (FIT) Innovating real-time in disasters. She offer’s an immersive deep dive into the world of field innovation team work, they routinely find themselves on the frontier of disasters working closely with technology and design to save lives, at times while risking their own. Whether the team is in the northwest during hurricane Sandy making decisive decisions to automate damage assessments, to Boston exploring social media for a bigger picture of the marathon bombing, or using drones to map data points to better understand the stability of the topography after mudslides struck Oso, Washington. Desi also led a team to Lebanon to support the Syrian refugee crisis. The team and communities they work with are expediting response and recovery.

Desi serves as a consultant on innovation for agencies and governments nationally and internationally, including her advisory role to the European emergency management consortium in UNESCO’S I-REACT Team. She was the first and former advisor to FEMA.

FIT offers special training throughout the year and will come into your region to train.

Call will be approximately 1 hour with the last 10-15 minutes for questions.
